Where Have You Been?

IF you’ve been wondering where I’ve been for the last three months, then wonder no more, as I’m now here to tell you. Since January I’ve been on secondment in Liverpool, where I was location managing a digital feature film called Salvage.

Salvage is one of three films that’s been commissioned by Digital Departures, which is a scheme run by Vision and Media, together with our partners the Liverpool Culture Company, the UK Film Council and BBC Films.

The main location for the film was at the former Brookside Close set, where we filmed for approximately 3½ weeks. Along with this location we also carried out some filming in the woods directly behind the close, and on the coast in Southport.

It was a fantastic opportunity for me to experience life as a location manager and it has not only provided me with valuable insights into the job but has also given me extra tools to perform in my role as a film officer.

The whole crew were a pleasure to work with, and were really passionate about the film.

I would also like to say a big thank you to Kevin Bell who mentored me throughout the whole experience and to Lynn Saunders, Susan Williams and the whole of the film office team for their continued support.

- Bobby Cochrane, Assistant Film Liaison Officer at the Greater Manchester Film Office.
