Back to School Again - Waterloo Road

Waterloo Road, the new eight part drama from Shed Productions, starts Thursday 8th March on BBC 1 at 8pm.

Waterloo Comprehensive is a school in crisis; after the current headteacher goes into mental meltdown, a very reluctant deputy head is forced to take charge of a school heading for closure. He recruits a teaching fanatic as his deputy head who, along with the incessantly optimistic head of guidance (played by Jamie Glover and Angela Griffin respectively) are committed to getting the school back on track.

With help from North West Vision's Manchester Film Office, Shed Productions scoured the length and breadth of Greater Manchester looking for a 'soon to close' school, and Rochdale Council came up trumps with Hilltop School, situated in the middle of a housing estate in Kirkholt. Murmurs of a second series have been heard, but the BBC are keen to see how well the 'new pupil' performs in the ratings before deciding.
