Turn on TV visits USA

Manchester based production and facilities company Turn On TV joined six other UK Indies on a visit to the States in January ’07 as part of an international development programme sponsored by North West Vision.

TRC (The Research Centre) led the group of independent producers on a four day course which included meetings and presentations by top executives from key US broadcasters including; Discovery, HBO, MTV, A&E, Comedy Central and BBC America.

Angela Smith, Managing Director of Turn On Television, represented the Northwest based company as part of TRC’s initiative to broaden relationships between the US and UK Television markets.

Turn on Televisions credits include Unlikely Lovers and many more popular programmes for a range of British broadcasters such as Channel 4, Granada and Living TV.

Other companies who made the international trip included Hopskotch Films, MMMedia, The Comedy Unit (all from Glasgow), Stirling Film and TV (Belfast), Testimony Films (Bristol) and Touch Productions Ltd (Bath).

TRC is an independent charity working in partnership with international and UK broadcasters, producers and public agencies to provide high end training, original research and business support to the creative content industry.

The International programme is sponsored by Channel 4, Scottish Enterprise, NIFTC, North West Vision and South West Screen.
