Facts and Figures

The Skills department is constantly striving to enhance the region’s media workforce by supporting people and companies with bespoke, training solutions. In doing this, we’re proud to report that:

We have been running the Skillset TV Freelance Fund (TVFF) since 2002 and have supported 200 freelances with bespoke training worth up to £1000.

In the last six months we’ve supported 804 individual places on one-day workshops or one-to-one guidance sessions.

Diversity has supported 43 people on three separate schemes:

· Bespoke training – a programme of training, funding and placements.

· Muslim Writers Programme – supporting a group of Muslim writers to work with BBC Writersroom.

· Bollywood Trainees – supporting six people to work on Bollywood movie Mr Bhatti On Chutti.

Last Mile placements:

The Last Mile scheme supported 24 trainees on Plug-In placements.

Trainees involved in the Shameless scheme clocked up 4682 training hours in 2006.

Seven trainees completed the TV Academy @ ITV Granada.

We recruited 69 digit-hommes and 74 digit-elles.
