New company name

NORTHWEST’S LEADING AUDIOVISUAL ORGANISATION NAMED

NORTHWEST Vision + Media today celebrated the announcement of its newly-revealed company name.

The new company was formed on May 1, after a merger between regional screen agency, North West Vision, and leading media skills and training provider, Media Training North West. The new name of the company, however, has just been revealed today.

“We deliberated for a long time over the new company name, and consulted widely with our staff, our funders and everyone who currently uses our services,” says Northwest Vision + Media Chief Executive, Alice Morrison.

“The overwhelming message we received back was that both brands are already extremely well known and respected, and that people wanted us to maintain consistency. By choosing Northwest Vision + Media I think we’ve done that.

“As we move forward and tell the international market about our goals and aspirations, I believe the Vision + Media brand will play an increasingly significant role in the industry,” explains Alice.

The unified, highly focused organisation, will now concentrate on driving forward the audiovisual industries in the Northwest. “The media industry is one of the most exciting and high growth sectors in the UK economy, producing 17 per cent of the world’s creative content,” says Alice.

“The Northwest is already the most significant contributor to this sector outside London, but we are hungry for more! That’s why our new merger is so exciting, because not only can we continue to invest in and support the Northwest’s TV, film and digital media businesses, but we will also be able to make sure our people are given the right skills and opportunities for the future,” says Alice.

“We’re looking forward to providing our enhanced services as one coherent organisation and working even more closely with our partners, and with the industry, to realise our primary objective of growing the audiovisual content industry in the region,” she adds.

Lynne McCadden, Managing Director of Northwest Vision + Media, believes the new, strategic partnership will maximise even further opportunities such as the BBC’s move north.

“Not only will we be looking at all the opportunities presented by Mediacity: UK, but we’re confident we’ll also be able to attract even more high growth media businesses to the Northwest,” says Lynne

“As a combined force, we’ll continue to develop the talent and skills base of the region, as well as developing new creative, technical and craft talent. We’ll also be focussing on helping companies to establish a base here, which will then create more jobs in the industry. This is not only good news for the region’s businesses and media professionals, but for the broadcasters too,” adds Lynne.

Work is currently underway to produce a new website and branding for the company. Northwest Vision + Media will continue to operate out of its head office at BBC Oxford Road, Manchester.
