Manchester's Blast from the Past

MANCHESTER’S BLAST FROM THE PAST HAS VIEWING FIGURES SOARING

Time travelling cop drama Life on Mars attracted 5.7 million viewers (a 23.1% share) when series two hit screens across the UK on Tuesday 13th February.

Filmed across Greater Manchester with support from North West Vision’s regional film offices, the phenomenal start to the new series is a great boost for the region, which is heavily featured as a backdrop throughout the mysterious drama surrounding DCI Sam Tyler (John Simm).

Susan Williams, Greater Manchester’s Film Liaison Officer commented:
“The production crew for Life on Mars were really imaginative with their locations, spreading their filming activity across Stockport, Oldham, Rochdale, Preston, Bolton and Bury.”

“All the local council departments involved with facilitating the filming, particularly in Stockport, Bolton and Bury were a great help and due to their continued support and encouragement, filming activity is really booming in their areas.

Life on Mars (Kudos) is a cutting edge cop drama that follows a present day detective whose world turns upside down when he awakes in 1973. The first series was a great success, gaining an average of 6.8 million viewers.
