Northwest Vision and Media, create the bigger picture
Manchester Filmmakers Enjoy Big Screen Debut
FILMMAKERS
from
across
Manchester
filled
the
Cornerhouse
cinema
to
watch
a big
screen
debut
of
their
work,
after
winning
funding
from
regional
screen
agency,
Northwest
Vision
and
Media.
The
Digital
Shorts
special
screening
saw
writers,
producers
and
directors
from
Chorley,
Stockport,
Chorlton
and
Wigan
joining
with
industry
executive
to
watch
a
series
of 11
short
films,
all
fully-funded
by
Vision
and
Media,
which
works
on
behalf
of the
Northwest’s
TV,
film,
radio
and
digital
content
industries.
The
Digital
Shorts
scheme
is
part
of a
national,
UK
Film
Council
initiative
to
unearth
budding
feature
filmmakers.
“Short
films
are
critical
in
identifying
new
and
developing
writers,
directors
and
producers,”
explains
Alice
Morrison,
Chief
Executive
for
Vision
and
Media.
“This
initiative
gives
filmmakers
real
life
experience
of the
industry,
and in
many
cases
helps
them
to go
on to
even
bigger
and
better
projects.
“Indeed,
one of
our
Digital
Shorts
directors,
Lawrence
Gough,
couldn’t
make
the
screening
at the
Cornerhouse
as
production
has
now
started
on his
first
feature
film,”
adds
Alice.
