Liverpool Film Office

The Liverpool Film Office was the first Film Office in the UK – and today remains the most successful, with screen agencies around the country copying the Liverpool concept.

Established in 1989, it has built up a robust reputation for its filming expertise. In addition to becoming the first European member of the Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI), the Liverpool Film Office was also the first to publish a regional production guide to promote local crew and facilities.

However, Locations Co-ordinator, Kevin Bell, together with Film Liaison Officer Tracy Owen, believe it’s the huge and varied range of locations on offer across the area which has contributed to the city’s envied position as the Northwest’s first port-of-call for feature filmmakers.

Liverpool is currently going through a very exciting period in its history. 2007 marks the 800th birthday of the city and Liverpool will become the European Capital of Culture in 2008.

“The city is growing in reputation and will become an even more recognisable location on a European scale,” says Kevin. “It is simply a great time to come to Liverpool!” he adds.
