Halton takes Centre Stage
HALTON TAKES CENTRE STAGE
HALTON District is celebrating Christmas early this year, after being chosen by North West Vision, the region’s film, TV and digital media agency, to take centre stage as December’s Location of the Month.
Potential filmmakers, location managers and investors regularly visit the Location of the Month section of North West Vision’s website (/page/location-of-the-month) so to be featured as the prime location is a highly regarded accolade for any area.
Halton is covered by North West Vision’s Cheshire and Warrington Film Officer, Emma Welland. The area is no stranger to the TV and film industry, having recently reported £10 million pounds worth of inward investment, gained from productions filmed in the area.
“Halton is a hotspot for TV and filmmakers because of it’s great centralised location in the middle of three cities, two airports and an array of talented production companies,” says Emma.
“We’re constantly being asked by film and TV location managers to show them the best of what Halton has to offer, and we’re never short of somewhere new to showcase. It’s a wonderful area, and truly deserves the accolade of being chosen as North West Vision’s Location of the Month,” she adds.
North West Vision works behind the scenes, supporting, funding and promoting film, TV and digital production in the Northwest. The agency’s Chief Executive, Alice Morrison, says Halton truly deserves to be showcased as Location of the Month.
“Every area has something special to offer, but Halton has so many hidden delights. From thatched cottages to modern waterside apartments, and from rugged quarry locations to a lighthouse, there really is something to suit all filming requirements,” says Alice.
“Having our own Film Liaison Film Officer, Emma Welland, covering Cheshire and Warrington, has made it possible for us to single out special areas like Halton, and bring it to the attention of filmmakers and producers.”
North West Vision has four other sub-regional film offices, covering Merseyside, Greater Manchester, Cumbria and Lancashire.
Halton, however, is one of the busiest filming areas within the Northwest and has been the backdrop for many TV productions and films including BBC’s Two Pints Of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps, Merseybeat, Drop Dead Gorgeous and Millions, directed by Danny Boyle (of Trainspotting and 28 Days Later).
Explaining how the region rivals other UK locations,
Halton’s Tourism Manager, Iain Bisset, says: “Halton
has the ability to make things happen. It’s also a place
where anonymity can happen. Despite being used regularly for serial
dramas, there are still lots of places that can double-up as other
locations.
