The Ruby In the Smoke (2006)
BBC: This period drama was broadcast during BBC’s primetime Christmas schedule in 2006. Based on Phillip Pullman’s Sally Lockhart Quartet novel and directed by Liverpudlian Brian Percival, the production filmed on location at Sunderland Point near Morecambe for two days

Dead Clever (2006)
Granada TV: A two-hour black comedy drama about a woman who decides to take revenge on her cheating husband – with deadly results! The production spent 10 days filming at various locations in the Rossendale Valley. Screened on ITV 1 on New Years Day 2007

Instinct (2006)
Tightrope Productions: A 2 x 70-minute drama mini-series for ITV 1 written by Lizzie Mickery. The production filmed for 17 days on location in Rossendale

The Outsiders (2006)
Lime Pictures: This action adventure filmed a stunt scene at Capernwray Diving Centre near Carnforth. The production hit our screens on 3rd October 2006, with fantastic viewing figures

Life On Mars (2006)
BBC: The return of a second eight-part series, broadcast in 2007, and marking the thrilling finale of the show. The production team filmed for one day at the Sessions Court House in Preston

Viva Blackpool (2006)
BBC: A one-off sequel to Blackpool, with David Morrissey reprises his role as Ripley Holden

Longford (2006)
ITV Granada: This Channel 4 two-hour single drama focused on Lord Longford’s relationship with Myra Hindley and his ill-fated attempts to secure her release. With the co-operation of Her Majesty’s Prison Service, this production spent four days on location at Wymott Prison and Garth Prison near Leyland

Mobile (2006)
ITV Productions: A trail of sabotage and murder has one common link, mobile phones, and the detectives have a race against time to find out who is behind a series of brutal crimes in this 3 x 90-minute drama. Filmed one day at Weeton Barracks in the Fylde district

Where The Heart Is (2006)
Granada Media: Made for ITV 1, stars from this popular television drama were in Blackpool for a week-long shoot. Braving the cold weather, Denise Van Outen and ex-Coronation Street actor Phil Middlemiss strapped themselves in on top of Blackpool's tallest roller-coaster for the TV cameras

Kombat Opera (2006)
Avalon TV: Produced for the BBC these 5 x 30-minute operatic pastiches of television shows included: The Apprentice, Wife Swap, Panorama, Question Time and South Bank Show. Filmed at various locations across the Northwest, including Troy Quarry in Haslingden; Blackburn Ice Arena; and the beach at Starr Gate, Blackpool
