DOVE TALES 2 PREMIERE IN LIVERPOOL

THE Dove Tales 2 film premiere will be held on Tuesday 18 September at The Playhouse Theatre, Williamson Square, Liverpool.

Dove Tales 2 is a series of three short films that have involved local community writers from Liverpool. The Dove Tales 2 project was initiated by Mersey Talent Pool/Naked Poet Productions with the participation of the Dovecot Community, The Everyman/Playhouse Theatre, and Surestart to promote local writing and filmmaking by working with members of the community through a series of structured workshops for writing, acting, camera operation, sound, make up and costume.

Dove Tales 2 has developed relationships with members of the community and provided them with key skills, not only in literacy and communication, but in creative expression.

The filmmakers were encouraged to tell their own stories, as a means to building confidence and self-esteem. They were also offered basic training in film techniques and, through a series of workshops, developed short written pieces focusing on their community and their position in Liverpool as a City of Culture.

The screening event will help to raise awareness of the issues of domestic violence and any profits from the evening will be donated to this great cause.
