Northwest Films Selected as Best at Cannes

Two films made as part of North West Vision's Digital Shorts filmmaking scheme for 2005 were selected as 'best in shows' at the 59th Cannes Film Festival Short Film Corner.

The Donor (John Lochland) and Fear (Tim Horsfall) were selected as the best films for entry into thematic programs run in partnership with the National Film Board of Canada. After being chosen out from 930 entries to join the best 27, the successful films were included in the programs and screened over throughout the festival.

Alice Morrison said:

" This is great news for our filmmakers and the Northwest as a whole. To be picked out of the many talented writers, producers and directors and the wealth of short films shown in Cannes is a real achievement and we are very proud."

All films registered at the Short Film Corner have the possibility to be selected. Those selected by Michel Coulombe (Silence on Court - NFB) on behalf of the Canadian Film Board, benefited from a screening in one of the Marché du Film screening room.

The renowned Short Film corner is an integral part of the Cannes Film Festival and is a place to view short films, attend conferences, and where producers, directors and distributors can meet, bridging the gap between shorts and feature films.
