Digital Shorts

Digital Shorts

The aim of this scheme is to provide an opportunity for writers and directors to see their work on screen and develop their professional experience.

You will be a filmmaker with a new approach to genre and storytelling. Whether it's documentary, drama or animation, we want to see inventive, creative filmmaking at its very best.

The Digital Shorts scheme has two different categories:

  • Mini Digital Shorts will fund emerging writers and/or directors with a maximum budget of £3000 (per film) to produce six exciting films of up to ten minutes long.
  • Maxi Digital Shorts is aimed at writers of any ability and directors with a track record in shorts or similar experience in another film making medium. Filmmakers will receive a maximum of £9,000 (per film) to produce four original and engaging films of no more than ten minutes in duration, which are aimed at an international festival audience.

Don't rush your decision - think carefully about which you scheme you apply for to get the best out of our schemes.

If you are less experienced we would advise you to apply for Mini Digital Shorts first. Don't go for a Maxi Digital Short because it offers you a longer film at a bigger budget.
