For the First Time Ever Cumbria Has its Own Film
Office
North West Vision (NWV) in association with
the North West Regional Development Agency (NWDA), Cumbria County
Council, Rural Regeneration Cumbria, Cumbria Institute of Arts and
Cumbria Tourist Board hosted the launch of a new Cumbria Film
Office on 1st December at the Rheged Centre in Penrith.
Local MP's, dignitaries, celebrities and film and TV professionals came together the to celebrate the opportunities film and TV production will bring to Cumbria.
Filming in England's Northwest is at all time high and this is an ideal time for Cumbria to capitalise on this boom.
This exclusive event provided an opportunity to meet North West Vision's team, network with like-minded professionals and find out about the vast wealth of filming locations, talent and facilities located in this breath-taking region.
The event also introduced Alan Saywell, Film Liaison Officer for Cumbria, who brings with him a CV worth boasting about with credits on Harry Potter, Bad Girls, Footballers Wives and Captain Correlli's Mandolin.
Speaking about his new role Alan said:
"I am delighted to have been appointed to run Cumbria's premiere film office on behalf of North West Vision. I am looking forward to utilising my knowledge, skills and contacts to promote Cumbria as a filming destination. Cumbria has a multitude of diverse filming locations from coastline and docks, to industrial sites, historic buildings, market towns, and of course the stunning scenery and lakes."
