ALCHEMY

THE Multi-Platform Strategy Lab is an innovative and powerful programme, which includes a Product Development Fund. It is designed to initiate working relationships between traditional and digital media companies. Alchemy will explore practical ways for companies to work together and effectively compete for new business in the multi-platform world.

Alchemy will support local media companies who want to broaden their product portfolio and take advantage of the growing international markets for multi-platform content, building on the opportunities generated by BBC North and the significant development of mediacity:uk. Alchemy is hosted by regional screen agency Northwest Vision + Media with support from the Northwest Development Agency and will be designed and delivered by the screen sector strategy consultancy OlsbergSPI, which owns the copyright to the programme.

Who is it for?
Owners, managers and senior executives of television and digital media companies, who are:

> interested in developing new business relationships and partnering with companies offering complementary skills and services in order to capitalise on opportunities being created by multi-platform commissioning
> exploring ways to develop new income streams for their businesses, including new commercial relationships and the exploitation of intellectual property
> seeking strategic, technical and business guidance for future business growth
> willing to devote time and intellectual resources to the development of multiplatform content.

Participants
Only 16 established companies will attend – eight of whom will come from broadcast television and another eight from the interactive, games and mobile sector. Through an open application process, participants will be selected primarily from the Northwest, though applications will be welcomed from the broader North and UK.

Timing and Location
The Residential Workshop will take place at Nunsmere Hall Hotel in Cheshire from the afternoon of Sunday 30 September 2007 to the evening of Tuesday 2 October 2007. The Final Networking Event will take place in Manchester approximately five months later.
